The American Water Spaniel is an excellent hunting dog.It is also considered an excellent guard dog, companion and pet.This dog is medium sized and hair wavy or curly. The dark brown hair lets go unnoticed in the vegetation of autumn, when the hunt is more common. Once in the field is very active and enthusiastic, while being obedient and has no problem controlling it. Is that even a dog is bred for hunting and show circles.
This breed was created in the United States. The purpose was to create a dog that besides being a good hunter in general could be used in hunting in boats and canoes. They said they feared that the qualities of the dog were affected and apparently preferred the good hunter before all the trophies and fame that the dog could acquire. This attitude has continued to some extent, where the majority still remains as hunting dogs or pets, viendosele with relative rarity in canine competitions.
