Basset hound

It is without a doubt one of the more comical and more friendly for all dogs and their success is probably more to your particular aspect to their game qualities of hound.

Head. Large and well-proportioned, medium width, with the skull of the same length of the snout. Side walls of the skull outgoing flat. Truffle black and dark, with very open nostrils. Pointed snout. Dark, so hanging lips that form a right angle with the tip of the nose. Moderately marked stop.

Eyes. Brown, preferably dark color. The lower eyelids let you see the dark red membrane.

Ears. Very long and low birth. If they are thrown forward, the tip of the truffle exceed much. Velvety texture, hanging in loose folds.

Neck. Wide and well arched, with very marked Chin.

Previous extremities is. Very heavy and solid. Shoulders and elbows well glued to the chest. Forearms short, strong, solid bones.

Body. Chest deep and solid, with a prominent breastbone. Its minimum distance from the floor is equivalent to one-third of the height at the withers. Elongated, smooth and extended with deep ribs. Dorsal line level.

Hind limbs. Parallel if they look back. Straight hocks are not rotated or outward or inward. Fallen metatarsal. Presence of spurs.

Feet. Well rounded. The previous is are slightly shifted outward, instead the following are straight. Neither sharp nor separate fingers.

Queue. Long, on the same line of the spine, it forms a slight curve.

Fur. Hard, adherent and quite dense. It can be of all colors, and colors, those accepted for hounds, mixed.

POWER. Food needs, calculated as maintenance ration are 1,250-1,400 Kcal per day.

Disease It IS. Because it is a fairly popular dog, you have been able to study better than in others, some diseaseis that particularly affect it.
